A speeding motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Gardaí attached to Donegal Town Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 132 KPH in a 100KPH speed zone last night.
A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice will issue for the speeding offence: €80 fine and 3 penalty points.
Subsequently, the driver failed the preliminary roadside breath test and was arrested.
A further breath sample taken at the Garda station established that the driver was over the legal limit which will mean that they will receive a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice: 3 months disqualification and a fine of €200.
“Please do not take unnecessary risks on the road. Help save lives by making responsible decisions when it comes to road safety,” a garda spokesperson said.
