It will be a mostly wet, and not white, Christmas for Ulster, according to Met Éireann.
Today, cloud will increase through the morning and outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will gradually spread northwards across the province during the early afternoon.
The rain will be persistent at times with the chance of spot flooding. Later in the day, it will turn drier in southern parts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees in moderate easterly winds, stronger near eastern coasts.
Tonight, the last of the rain will clear the north coast and there will be a mix of clear spells and scattered showers, most frequent and occasionally heavy along Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in a light southerly or variable breeze.
Tomorrow, Christmas Eve, will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, turning heavy or prolonged at times especially later in the day. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in fresh southerly winds.
Christmas morning (Sunday) will be dry and bright for many eastern and southern areas but showery outbreaks of rain will move into the west and north.
This rain will gradually make its way south eastwards across the country through the afternoon and evening.
Colder, clearer conditions will follow to the west and north with some showers feeding into northern coastal areas later, possibly of hail or sleet.
Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees early in the day in a light to moderate southerly breeze, turning round to the northwest and freshening later.
It will be cold on Christmas night with clear spells and a few showers, affecting northern coastal counties mainly with some turning wintry.
Lowest temperatures of minus 2 to plus 2 degrees with some frost forming, in moderate west to northwest winds, stronger along the north coast.
