A man who overtook an unmarked Garda patrol car at high speed on a busy Letterkenny road has been allowed to keep his licence.
22-year-old Joe McConalogue was before this week’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.
Garda Matthew Lenehan told the court that, at the Dry Arch, Letterkenny, on February 2, 2020, McConalogue overtook Gardai at high speed.
When overtaking, McConalogue pulled in ‘sharply’ in front of an unmarked car.
Officers spoke to McConalogue, of Oakland Park, Strabane, and issued a fixed charge penalty notice, which was not paid.
McConalogue, who has no previous convictions, was not present in court, but Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said she found the facts proven.
McConalogue faced a charge of driving without reasonable consideration and was fined €250. Judge Cunningham said she would not disqualify McConalogue on this occasion.
