Donegal Gardai have hit out at drivers saying it appears their road safety message is not hitting home.
It comes after a spate of arrests overnight in the county for alleged drinking driving.
A total of four drivers were arrested on suspicion of getting behind the wheel while drunk.
Two of those arrested were in the Carndonagh area and another two in the Buncrana area.
A Garda spokesperson said these drivers are putting other driver’s lived at risk also.
The spokesperson said “Sadly, it would appear that the road safety message is not hitting home with some people.
“Nobody is invincible. Nobody. When you get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs you are risking your life.
“You are also putting other road users at risk of serious injury or worse.”
The spokesperson said the decision to drink drive is in the hands of the driver.
The spokesperson added “Always make wise decisions when it comes to safety on the roads. Your life and the lives of others are much too precious not to.”
