Midlands North West MEP Chris MacManus made a visit to Letterkenny’s Errigal College this week as part of an event aiming to get people involved in the upcoming EU elections.
The Sinn Fein representative was joined by local election candidate for the party Sandra Haughey, as they spoke with TY students at the school.
Students were given a presentation, and then were given the opportunity to ask MEP McManus about the EU and the importance of participation in the elections.
The presentation outlined the EU’s role in developing policy in areas such as consumer rights, agriculture, data protection and the right to cash. MEP McManus also spoke about the EU legislative process and his work on topics such as the Digital Euro project and the Renewable Energy directive.
He also answered questions on a range of topics posed by students as part of the Europe Direct event.
