It’s been confirmed that Scoil Mhuire Buncrana has received planning permission for a major extension.
The proposed extension to the school comprises a two-storey 2,023 square-metre development that will include two mainstream classrooms, three special education training rooms, three science labs, a science prep area, a home economics room, a design and communications and graphics room, and four special education needs bases.
Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue welcomed the announcement today.
“Scoil Mhuire applied for planning permission in September 2023, and I am glad that the school extension has now completed this important step by securing planning permission,” Minister McConalogue said.
“I will continue to work with the school along with my colleague Cllr Rena Donaghey, and local election candidate Fionán Bradley, to make sure that the school now secures approval to move to the project tender stage from the Department of Education. This is a project that is very much needed and will be of major benefit to the staff, the students, and the school community,” the Donegal minister added.
