TWO TRIBES: Two GAA clubs in Letterkenny have made final submissions to the county committe before a vote on November 7th on where St Eunan’s and Letterkenny Gaels can draw players from. Eunan’s want to make the parishes in the town open to both clubs as currently exists whereas the Gaels want exclusive access to the Aughaninshin area.
NOT NOW DOC! The county’s four out-of-hours GP services are set to be slashed to two. Carndonagh, Derrybeg and Mountcharles will be cut from midnight next month. The entire county will then be serviced in the nighttime hours by a car based in Letterkenny. This comes after a warning from a local councillor to donegaldaily.com a month ago. WATER CUTS: Donegal County Council is to begin to disconnect businesses which haven’t paid water rates in a bid to claw back millions in unpaid fees.
PROPERTY BUBBLE: The National Housing Development Survey has reported that there are 133 unfinished housing estates in the county as a result of the recession. These include more than 800 detached homes, 1,718 semi-detached properties, 34 terraced homes, 568 apartments and 82 duplex apartments!!!!
FOOD BILL: Hungry councillors and council staff had €24,000 paid towards their food bill at the Court House bistro in Lifford.
