DISABILITY Awareness Week begins today in Co Donegal and there is a full programme of events.
In a joint statement on the event Donegal Mayor Frank McBrearty and Strabane Council Chair Thomas Kerrigan welcomed the events.
They said: “Once again this year, Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council are delighted to be jointly involved in the cross border Disability Awareness Week.
“The theme this year is “Removing Barriers to Create an Inclusive Society for All” and it is evident that this week’s events certainly promote an inclusive society which welcomes the participation of all, regardless of ability.
“From the selection of events taking place it is encouraging to see that so many organisations across the private, voluntary and statutory sectors are becoming involved to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities.
“We strongly encourage you to go out and enjoy the many events which are taking place right across the region and get involved in the cross border Disability Awareness Week.”
