On Wednesday night November 29, the Club Lotto draw was made and Eamonn McGlinchey’s numbers came out making him the first winner of the Club Lotto.

He scooped a very nice tidy sum of €8900. Tom McDonagh and John Bowe have worked tirelessly at keeping the Lotto going and many thanks is due to their time and effort put into it.

The Lotto is in existence just over three years and started off with a chance to win €1000 by choosing 4 numbers out of 28.

If there was no winner and there was not for over three years, each week a lucky dip was made and two members in the draw won €50.

That’s a guaranteed pay out of €100 each week. As luck would have it, Eamonn McGlinchey also won the lucky dip (€50) last week.

The draw now has started out again from the December 6 with the winning prize of €1000 and if not won the prize goes up by €50 each week.

Anyone a member of the club or not,  can buy 10 tickets online (€2 each) on http://locallotto.ie/play_newa.asp?ll_id=858#Anchor.

Tickets can also be purchased in the Golf Shop. We would encourage more members of the Club to join this Lotto. Remember if you’re not in you can’t win.

The Letterkenny Parent Club AGM was held in the Clubhouse on Monday, December 11.

There was a big attendance there.  Outgoing Captain Colin Morrow handed over the Chairmanship of the Committee to incoming Captain Hugh McClafferty. Danny McLoughlin the outgoing President welcomed the incoming President Brian Reilly. Maura Cavanagh was also welcomed to the committee as new Lady Captain.

As always Letterkenny Golf Club is interested in increasing its membership.

It was duly pointed out at the AGM the convenience of the location of Letterkenny Golf Course for golfers living within the catchment area of Letterkenny.

Indeed being able to stroll down and play a few holes does not go un-noticed with little or no cost regarding money or time.

A very conservative estimate of extra cost by travelling further afield would be €5 per game, taking that a golfer plays approx. 85 games in the year this hidden cost comes to €425.

There could also be other incidental expenses. There is a very good program being run in Letterkenny Golf Club called GET INTO GOLF for anybody who wants to start playing, it is at very little cost.

On Monday nights i.e. start of the season, Gerry Sullivan runs a competition for high handicappers  over 11 holes.  This is very popular every year and gets big support. Anyone interested in joining Letterkenny Golf Club can contact Dermot Condon at condondermot@gmail.com or the shop at 0749121150 (Option 3).
