A Donegal hotel has decided to cancel a royal-wedding theme function after complaints from some members of the public.
The Inishowen Gate Hotel in Buncrana planned to host an afternoon tea-style function to mark the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Saturday.
The hotel announced the function on Facebook but it is understood the hotel was contacted by some members of the public objecting to the event.
The event was then cancelled by the hotel yesterday.
The hotel announced on Facebook “The event planned for Saturday, May 19, will no longer be taking place and we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any offence caused,” the hotel said in a statement.
“As one of Donegal’s most recognised hotels we are committed to ensuring we offer our guests a quality and memorable experience.”
Prince Charles and Lady Camilla enjoyed a very successful visit to Donegal in 2016 when they visited a number of places including the LYIT in Letterkenny and Glenveagh Castle.
