Emer Kee takes over as Lady Captain at Ballybofey and Stranorlar GC

At the recent AGM of the Ladies Branch of the Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club, Emer Kee took possession of the Lady Captain’s Jacket for the year 2019.

Kathleen Byrne was re-elected as Secretary, Orla Martin one of the more recent new members took on the role of Treasurer.

Brid Carlin was re-elected as Competition Secretary and Margaret Hynes takes on the role of Handicap Secretary.

Anne O’Meara and Kaye Stewart were voted on to the Committee.

Josphine Stewart, as outgoing Lady Captain, addressed the meeting and thanked all who helped and supporter her throughout the year.

She commented on the thriving Girls Section and the good number of new Lady Beginners and urged the members to bring new people to the Club.

Her highlight of the year was her Lady Captain’s Day which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Reports were given by Brid Carlin competition Secretary, Kathleen McGowan, Handicap Secretary and Kathleen also reported on the Lady Beginners.

Lady Captain Josephine reported on the Junior Girls. A brief summary was given on the new body to replace the GUI and the ILGU and a vote was taken in favour of the change.

The Silver and Bronze medals were presented to Kathleen McGowan & Brid Carlin, Brid also won the Silver Spoon.

Emer Kee the incoming Lady Captain then addressed the meeting and shared her ideas for 2019, one being an outing to Lough Erne for two nights, two rounds of golf and dinner.

She will name her team captains when it has been decided which teams we should enter at the first monthly meeting of the Committee.

Matchplay Winners, The Raitt Cup Josephine Stewart & Karen O’Meara, runners up  Anna Dillon and Ann Sweeney.

Singles Winner Sharon Moloney, runner up Deirdre Kelly.  Beaten semi-finalists in the Singles Josephine Stewart & Kathleen McGowan.

After  the meeting all repaired to the small bar to avail of mince pies and cocktail sausages compliments of the incoming Lady Captain Emer.
