Tony and Kevin are Winter League champions at Buncrana Golf Club

THE final of the Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Mini Bus and Taxi Hire Winter League took place on Saturday.

The final saw Tony Hegarty and Kevin McGrath go up against Oliver Doherty and Emmet Doherty.

Tony and Kevin played some great golf over the first 8 holes to go 3 up and put themselves into a commanding position. 

However after a great shot into the 9 green Oliver Doherty had a great opportunity to bring the match back to 2 down but missed his birdie putt.

After this Tony and Kevin maintained their dominance over the remaining holes to eventually win 5 & 4.

18 Open Stableford Sweep

The 18 hole open stableford sweep last weekend was won by visiting player Martin McFadden (12) who played some steady golf in difficult weather conditions to shoot 40 points. Sean T. Murphy (14) who is playing some very consistent golf at present finished second with 37 points on a break of a tie from Roger Doherty (20).

18 Hole Open Stableford Sweep

There will be an 18 Hole Open Stableford Sweep this weekend Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th January and the last cards on Sunday will be 10.30am to facilitate the Annual General Meeting at 2pm.

‘Twenties’ Competitions

Martin Doherty playing of 13 won the fourth Twenties competition with 19 pts and the 9 hole Stableford ‘Twenties’ competitions will continue over the next few months and will give members the opportunity to play competition golf throughout this period. The cost will be €3.00 to entry and will run until 20 competitors play with the prize being won at this stage and a new competition will start straight away.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The ‘Find the Joker’ is up and running again with a Jackpot of €1,100.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty. 

Membership

There are great membership deals at present Male €350.00, Lady €232.00, Beginner Male €260.00 and Lady Beginner €190.00 all fees inclusive of G.U.I. / Insurance.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Buncrana Golf Club will take place on Sunday 12th January 2020 at 2pm sharp and all members are requested to attend.
