Caolan McLaughlin wins James Bradley Open Strokes at Buncrana

CAOLAN McLaughlin won the James Bradley Open Strokes at Buncrana Golf Club.

The annual competition calendar got underway last weekend and there was a great turnout over the two days for this very popular competition.

With the format being stroke and the prevailing windy conditions scoring was always going to be difficult.

However it didn’t prevent Caolan McLaughlin from playing some fantastic golf to shoot a tremendous 69 gross to leave him with his winning score of 58 nett.

The full results of the James Bradley Open Stroke are as follows; 1st Caolan Mc Laughlin (11) 58 nett, 2nd Gerard Boyle (21) 58 nett, Gross Christopher Mc Callion (4) 68 gross, 3rd Hugh Doherty (6) 65 nett b.o.t., Best day John P. Mc Connell (10) 68 nett b.o.t. and back 9 Mark Monaghan (11) 31 nett b.o.t.

Mini League

The second round of the match play in the Mini  League took place last weekend and there was some great golf played by the pairings involved.

The maiden pairing of David Henry & Eoghan Mc Colgan had a great victory over the pairing of Liam Henderson and Gerard Gallagher. David and Eoghan will be looking forward to the quarterfinals and now play the competition favourites Cormac Doherty and Martin Doherty. The draws for the quarterfinals of the Mini League are as follows: Brian Bradley and Evan v Sean Cronin and J. P McConnell, Stíofan and Ciaran McLaughlin v Tony Hegarty and Kevin McGrath, Stephen Fitzpatrick and Mike McLaughlin v Gerard Harkin and Graham Donaghey and Martin and Cormac Doherty v David Henry and Eoghan McColgan.

All matches have to be played on or before Sunday 22nd March without exception.

SuperValu Teams of 4 Open Scramble

The competition this weekend Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March will be a Teams of Four Open Stableford Scramble. This competition is sponsored by SuperValu Buncrana and there is a timesheet in operation.

St. Patrick’s Day Competition

There will also be an Open Stableford on St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday 17th March and this competition is sponsored by The Atlantic Bar Buncrana.

Find the Joker Fundraising

A new “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot already at €375.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Charity Bingo

In the interest of Health & Safety the Monster Charity Bingo that was to be held on Thursday 19th March in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel had to be cancelled. The committee and members would like to apologies for any inconvenience caused and hope to reschedule this fundraising event for later in the year.

Membership

There are great membership deals at present Male €350.00, Lady €232.00, Beginner Male €260.00 and Lady Beginner €190.00 all fees inclusive of G.U.I. / Insurance.
