Portsalon Notes – 7th December

Golf returns

We had 55 delighted golfers competing in our Tuesday Open to herald the re-opening of golf courses following the easing of Covid-19 Restrictions last week. It was great to see our members out on the course again, enjoying fresh air and exercise in a safe, socially distant and controlled playing environment following the governments’ decision to exit Level 5. Golf courses will be keeping their fingers firmly crossed that the disruptions of 2020 are soon behind us all.

Covid-19 Protocols

All golfers are reminded to observe the Covid-19 Protocols when visiting Portsalon Golf Club. These remain in place for the safety and protection of our staff, your fellow golfers, yourself and – importantly – your family at home. Please continue to be vigilant.

Online Bookings

All timesheets will become live on BRS at 6.30pm three days in advance of playing. No prior bookings can be made. Given the very short hours of daylight it is more important than ever to fulfil any tee-time you have booked. This includes single slots. Please free up any available slot on the timesheet for competition days over the Festive period if it is not being used as a courtesy to your fellow members. Do this online or by calling the shop on 074 9159459. Even at late notice, this might allow someone else to avail of the playing opportunity.

Gents Christmas Hamper

Sunday morning’s thick fog and freezing temperatures meant the Christmas Hamper competition was cancelled as the course remained closed for the day. This has now been rescheduled for Saturday 12th December, with online bookings available via BRS.

Portsalon Ladies Notes

The Ladies Christmas Hamper is scheduled for Sunday 13th December with a timesheet in operation, many thanks to Lady Captain Roseanne and the competitions committee for arranging same. As this is the first event since the lockdown the members are eagerly awaiting their return to golf. Ladies are reminded that a timesheet is in operation and are asked to abide by the Level 3 restrictions in place at the club.  Enjoy!!
