Buncrana Golf Club has proudly presented €1,660.60 to Lough Swilly RNLI.
The funds were raised from the Lady Captains Charity Competition held at the Buncrana Golf Club earlier in the year. Lady Captain Lorna Thompson recently presented a cheque to John Mc Carter (RNLI), and was joined by Pius Mc Fadden (Club Captain), Master James Bradley and Eunan Mc Connell (RNLI).
Caolán Takes Christmas Hamper
The Annual Christmas Hamper took place last weekend and there was a great turnout over the two days. With the greens in excellent condition all the members were looking forward to getting out and testing their putting skills.
The weather conditions were what one expects for this time of year but the pin positions were certainly not. The greenkeeper was on a mission to put all the players to the test and he certainly did with some of the most difficult pins positions every played on the wee links. It’s no surprise that the scoring reflects this and in turn shows how a course can be prepared to make it as difficult as possible and makes a mockery of this so called Slope Rating Index.
There was very little between the winning positions with 37 pts or 1 under being the best score returned all weekend.
The player that returned this score was Caolán Mc Laughlin (8) who is playing some excellent golf all year. Caolán had a poor enough start with only 16 pts in the front 9 and a lot of players heads would have dropped at this stage, but not Caolán, as he went on to shoot a very impressive 21 pts over the back 9 to amass his winning total of 37 pts.

Membership Vouchers make great Christmas Presents and can be purchased at the clubhouse. The club shop is well stocked with all the latest apparel, golf shoes, bags, balls and anything not onsite can be got within 2 days.
Christmas Holidays
The clubhouse will be closed from 12:30 p.m. on Thursday 24th December to Monday 28th December any members wishing to play during this period would need to remove their clubs from the locker rooms.
