A call has been made to set up a digital hub in the village of Manorcunningham.
The call was made by Councillor Donal Coyle at the latest meeting of the Letterkenny and Milford Municipal District.
Cllr Coyle said that Manorcunningham had been neglected for many years.
He said one of the reasons for this was that the area fell between Inishowen Municipal Council and Letterkenny/Milford Municipal Council.
However, he said the area had a great community spirit which supports three primary schools, a health centre, two shops, a post office as well as many sporting groups including two soccer teams.
However, he said something had to be done before Manor was “let die altogether”, according to Cllr Coyle.
He said the setting up of a digital hub would be a huge benefit to the area which he said had a large number of vacant buildings.
He added that the whole area of digitisation was something which could be looked at by the council and the local community with a view of setting up such a hub.
Cllr Coyle requested a survey of vacant buildings be carried out in the area with a view to setting up such a hub.
“It behoves all of us to do something,” he added.
