Funding has been allocated to build a new footbridge adjacent to the Clady Bridge in Bunbeg.
The bridge over the Clady River on the R257 has long been a safety concern for pedestrians.
A recent feasibility study and review of road safety improvement, environmental impact and costs determined that a footbridge was the most efficient option.
Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig has welcomed the next step forward for the project.
Funding has now been allocated to progress the project through Preliminary Design stage, Ecology Assessments and Planning via An Bord Pleanala submission.
The Road Design Office, Lifford is currently in the process of procuring an experienced consultant to carry out these works.
