Earlier this week, additional funding for Donegal’s piers and harbours bringing the total amount for the county under the Brexit Adjustment Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme to €26,447,670 was announced.
The Minister also announced that he had increased the government funding rate for the scheme to 95% for all projects (up from projects less than €1m at 85% and projects over €1m at 90% in the April announcement).
This new funding rate means a big saving for Donegal County Council. The total amount of extra funding paid by government for Donegal projects is now €10,664,502.
Commenting, Cllr Liam Blaney said: “This new funding rating is very important news for our council. The council’s budget is stretched in many directions but this increased funding rate by Minister McConalogue means that the council can continue these projects without the financial pressure that previously existed. I thank the Minister for making this decision which will greatly benefit our county and help the council continue to develop our piers and harbours.”
