Drum Bar Golf Society still going strong after 20 years

The Drum Bar Golf Society is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023.

It was formed in 2003 by Dave Moore and Oliver Duffy. Dave became their first Captain, and it has since gone from strength to strength

The support of Cormac and Annette (R.I.P.) Gallagher and family have helped the society grow since it started. Cormac has been President for the last 19 years and continues to hold office today as the club celebrates this milestone.

Even though The Drum Bar has not opened since lockdown, the golf society remains strongly associated and retains their friendship with The Gallagher family.

The Society has become an extended family to all members, which is evident in the great spirit within the Club. It is one of the main reasons it is still going strong today with 38 active playing members. And of course not forgetting the great fun and support from our “Sports & Social” members.

The Captain this year is Laura Crawford and vice Captain is Cathal Sheridan.

There is no doubt Laura will provide members with a great year of golf and fun trips like all the previous Captains before her.

The society has sadly had some members who passed away over the years and they are fondly remembered each year in the Memorial Day competition.

Our Society has also donated funds each year to their specially selected charity, The Donegal Hospice.

“We as a Club would like to take this opportunity to thank our President Cormac and his family for their continued support to our Society and to wish our Captain Laura a very enjoyable year of celebrations ahead.”

Captains Drive-In Results:

Laura had her Captains drive in on Saturday in Dunfanaghy. 31 members braced the elements with some good scores on the day from our previous Captain Peter Mc Grath.
