It’s a big undertaking and it’s going to take a lot of effort.

Ten staff members at Scoil Mhuire in Milford have decided to run the Belfast Marathon to raise funds for their new Autism class.

The team have entered two groups of five into the relay section of the marathon which takes place on Sunday 5th May.

All funds will be used to enhance and upgrade the facilities in the new classroom and will benefit not only the Autism class but the whole school.

A spokesperson for the school said “Any donation big or small would be greatly appreciated.”

The school started a Go Fund Me page and have already hit their goal of €3,500 after just a few days but want to keep the donations flooding in.

The staff members taking part are Liam mc Laughlin, Eimear Doherty, Peter Doherty, Mark Mc Conigley, Laura Law, Darina Ferry, Caoimhe Blaney, Brona Harley, Fionnuala Mc Grath and Sharon Peoples

And they have a message for those thinking of sponsoring them “The more you donate, the faster we will run.”
