FOR MANY ex-pat Donegal folk, this is a critical night on the north eastern seaboard of the United States.
Majella McFadden from the Donegal Boston Gaelic Football Club sent Donegal Daily this picture a short time ago.
“This is us bracing for Hurricane Sandy on Carson Beach, South Boston,” said Majella.
“And Sandy is still a few hundred miles off shore!!!”
The storm hit southern New Jersey at 10pm Irish Time, and New York has lost power to 50,000 homes, with 100,000 more in darkness in New Jersey.
But it’s just going to get worse with the worst storm to hit the US in 30 years.
The Irish Embassy is tweeting updates to followers on Twitter, for readers there.
“This is going to be a big storm. It’s going to be a difficult storm,” said US President Barack Obama.
“I think the public needs to prepare for the fact that this is going to take a long time for us to clean up. The good news is we will clean up and we will get through this.”
