Keith Shiels led the Senior league team to a 3-2 win over reigning champions Ballyliffen.

The match was held in Murvagh with wins from Simon Stephens, Jamie Foley and Chris Duffy.

The next contest is the first final since 1998 against Rosapenna in Murvagh on Sunday, September 16 at 2pm

Congratulations to Seamus Farren, who led the Donegal league team and who beat Cloughaneely Golf Club to advance to the final of this year’s competition.

In the first leg at Letterkenny GC, the home team produced some excellent golf to get four and a half matches from five.

Wins by Kieran Sweeney / Kevin Rafferty, Liam Wiseman / Ronan Daly, Kevin Hensey / Charlie Coughlan, John Russell / Brian O’Donnell and a half secured in the top match by Cian Harkin / Jamie Foley. This meant one match was required in the away leg to progress to the final.

A strong team selection gave Letterkenny a fighting chance and indeed the required result was achieved.

A win in the top match by Kieran Sweeney / Kevin Rafferty meant the remaining matches were called in. At the time, two matches were level and two matches were down.

Congratulations to Seamus and team in reaching the final which will be against Rosapenna Golf Club.
