Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn has again raised the urgent need for school transport services in Donegal with Minister of State for School Transport John Halligan.
The call comes as pupils are denied transport to two secondary schools in Milford and the national school in Gleneely, while more than 30 pupils are without seats on school buses to post-primary schools in Buncrana.
Bus Éireann has confirmed that all but two of the Buncrana pupils are eligible for school transport under the Department of Education rules.
Senator Mac Lochlainn wrote to Minister Halligan on Tuesday to say: “Last evening, a public meeting took place in Muff, Co. Donegal and parents from Bridgend, Burnfoot, Tooban and Muff were in attendance.
“We are currently in the process of gathering up all the relevant information that will be forwarded on to you.
“Again, we ask for your intervention to ensure that these large numbers of pupils are not left without school transport for the upcoming term with all the difficulties and hardship this causes to the affected families,” the Senator concluded.
