Break of tie needed to determine winner at Buncrana’s open scramble

WITH two teams returning 51 points, it took a break of a tie to separate the winners of last week’s open scramble at Buncrana Golf Club.

However the formidable team of Gearóid Doherty (14), Patrick Doherty (18), Patrick Fletcher (19) and Gerard Boyle (19) took first place by virtue of a superior back 9 of 27 points.

In second place was Martin Doherty (12), Mickey Mc Hugh (13), Leo Sheehy (17) and Cormac Doherty (18) and best day with 50 points.

Break of tie went to Pauric O’ Flaherty (3), Francis Stainsby (7), Paul Henry (10) and Darren McFadden (20).

 

St. Patrick’s Day Competition

The winners of the St. Patrick’s Day Open Stableford which was sponsored by the Atlantic Bar Buncrana are as follows: 1st Brian Bradley (12) 40 points BOT, 2nd Martin McGrath (25) 40 points, Gross Brendan Murphy (8) 72 gross, 3rd Emmet Doherty (14) 39 points and Back 9 Ciaran Porter (23) 22 points BOT.

 

Mini-League

The quarter-finals of the match play in the Mini-League took place last weekend and the Winter League winners Tony Hegarty and Kevin McGrath won their match 4 & 2 and are only two games away from winning the Mini League to achieve a remarkable double.

The draws for the semi-finals of the Mini-League are as follows; Tony Hegarty and Kevin McGrath v Sean Cronin and JP McConnell, Gerard Harkin and Graham Donaghey v Martin and Cormac Doherty and all matches have to be played on or before Sunday 29th March without exception.

 

Competition

The competition this weekend Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March will be an Open Stableford and there is a timesheet in operation to ensure adequate Social Distancing is maintained.

 

COVID-19

We would encourage everyone to take on-board the recommended precautions before, during and after visits to our club Especially SOCIAL DISTANCING:

• KEEP YOUR DISTANCE and try to maintain, at least 1 – 2m minimum distance, between yourself other golfers.

• WASH your hands properly and often.

• AVOID touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

• AVOID shaking hands.

• COVER your mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and discard the used tissue.

• DO NOT congregate in or around the clubhouse or club shop

• PLEASE USE the supplied hand sanitizes in and around the clubhouse

• STAY AT HOME if you are sick to help stop the spread of whatever infection you may have.

• REMEMBER – Golf is a great sport for people generally to get out and about, exercise and enjoy fresh air. It is played in an outdoor setting where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low.

 

Find the Joker Fundraising

A new “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot already at €400.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

 

Membership

There are great membership deals at present Male €350.00, Lady €232.00, Beginner Male €260.00 and Lady Beginner €190.00 all fees inclusive of G.U.I. / Insurance.
