Met Éireann’s ‘Yellow’ wind warning for Donegal will remain in place for most of the day.
Northwest winds, they said, will be ‘very strong’ at times and high waves are also expected. Potential Impacts include wave overtopping, debris, loose objects displaced and difficult driving and cycling conditions.
The warning has been in place since midnight and remains valid until 8pm tonight and also affects Connacht, Clare and Kerry.
Heavy winds overnight resulted in power outages in the Letterkenny and Stranorlar and Killygordon areas.

Today will be very windy across Ulster with strong to near gale force, gusty west to northwest winds and with gales in the north of the province and near coasts. High seas also with potential for wave overtopping along northwest and north coasts. It will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.
Tonight will continue windy and mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Fresh to strong, gusty west to northwest winds will moderate somewhat towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Tomorrow will continue mostly cloudy and quite windy with fresh to strong, gusty west to northwest winds and with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. A few brighter intervals are possible also. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.
