Veteran golfer Dan Kearney is sponsoring his own Open Stableford this weekend at Buncrana Golf Club.

At 91 years young, Dan is the club’s most mature member and the Honorary-Vice President.

The club is looking forward to hosting the Daniel Kearney competition in celebration of their great supporter this Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September.

More notes from Buncrana Golf Club:

Big Hitting “Ward” Takes Illies Open

There was a fantastic turnout last weekend for the Illies Football Club Open Stableford Fundraiser and the organisers of this competition would like to take this opportunity to thank all the tee Sponsors and competitors for supporting this fundraising initiative. There was some great scoring over the 2 days and none better than that recorded by the big hitting Paddy Ward (18). Paddy has the potential to hit big scores if he got his putting sorted and has been on the verge of winning for some weeks now. So on Saturday morning it all came together for Paddy as he hit 22 pts over the first 9 and even though he was heard saying the back 9 was very slow, he still managed to shoot a fantastic 25 pts to amass his winning total of 47 pts. In this sort of form Paddy will soon see his handicap come tumbling down. The full results of the Illies Football Club Open Stableford played Saturday 21st – Sunday 22nd September are as follows;

Overall/Cat 2 Paddy Ward (18) 47 pts

Gross Jonathon Doherty (4) 66 gross

Category 1 Shane Devlin (6) 39 pts

Category 3 James Gill (31)   45 pts

Best Day (Sun) Martin Barber (41) 42 pts

Visitor Francis Stainsby (N.W.) (2) 35 pts

Back 9 Darren Doherty (10) 21 pts b.o.t.

Nearest The Pin Ciaran Doherty 4. 2”
