The 2018 Captains Drive In took place on Saturday the 10th at Rosapenna Golf Club.

With a large gallery assembled on the 1st tee Dympna, Liam & Conor all played great opening shots to huge applause to officially mark their year in office.

The mixed scramble on the day was won by Mary Devlin, Barry Connor, Charlie McBride & Garvin Toye with 55.5.

The runners up were Kit Boyce, Enda McMenamin, Martin Coary & Peadar Boyce with 55.75 and in third place was the team of Cliona Murphy, John Feeney, Shane Doherty & Barry McMenamin with 56.25.

The club competition on Sunday the 11th was cancelled as the course was closed all day due to heavy hail showers.

Patrick J Boyce

The Casey Family made a special presentation to Patrick (PJ) Boyce on Saturday past after the Captains Drive In presentation.

Patrick first joined Rosapenna in 1948 while the hotel was owned by the Catherwood Family and has been a member ever since making this his 70th year playing golf. Patrick has been both a Captain and President of Rosapenna as well as winning the most coveted title in Rosapenna on multiple occasions, the Leitrim Cup which he brought home in both 1956 and again in 1993.

Patrick was also a member of the Rosapenna Senior team that won the Donegal Senior Scratch Matchplay for the first time in the 1980’s.

Consistently a low single figure golfer Patrick represented Rosapenna at home and abroad for many years and received his honour to a standing ovation from the members present on the day.
